Online Trauma Therapy IFS | EMDR Story Work Alabama and Florida
If you've survived sexual abuse, spiritual abuse, or a painful childhood, you've likely developed ways of coping that now feel like a cage. I can help you find relief from those patterns and reconnect with who you are at your core. Your story doesn't end with what happened to you. Together, we can help you write what comes next.
As you are navigating your past trauma, you deserve to connect with someone who truly understands and can help. The opposite of trauma is connection.
Everyone has a story. Everyone has known experiences of heartache, powerlessness, betrayal, and shame at some point in their lives. For years, I've been dedicated to working with the parts of myself that I once despised, and drawing nearer to the younger version of myself within my own story, who deserved kindness and care.
I can help you tend to those places in your own story and care for the parts of you that have fought hard to survive or have been hidden away in shame. Together, we will engage what feels broken and be surprised by what is beautiful, still.
I’m Steven, and I specialize in IFS, EMDR, and Story Work to help adults who are struggling with past trauma to achieve healing and freedom.
I am convinced belovedness and belonging are the birthright of everyone. These places of dignity are often impacted through experiences of trauma. The effects of trauma can leave you feeling isolated, disconnected, and unknown by others and yourself.
In the wake of trauma, there is a way forward to reclaim your birthright and cultivate a life you were meant for.
You've likely done enough reading to know what happened to you has a name. Maybe you've even been to therapy before. But you're looking for someone who goes deeper. Someone who understands not just the trauma, but the parts of you that formed around it to keep you safe, and how to finally help those parts rest.
Healing from Sexual Abuse
What happened to you was not your fault, and it doesn't have to be the thing that defines how you see yourself, relate to others, or move through the world. Many of my clients come in carrying shame they've never spoken aloud, patterns in relationships they can't seem to escape, and a sense of disconnection from their own bodies and desires. This work is about safely revisiting what happened so that it loses its grip and you get to decide what comes next.
Overcoming the Impact of Painful Childhood Experiences
You may not be able to point to one defining moment. Maybe it was a home where love felt conditional, where you learned to make yourself small, or where your needs simply weren't met. The patterns formed in childhood have a way of quietly running the show in adulthood in your relationships, your sense of worth, and how safe you feel being fully yourself. This work is about uncovering those patterns, understanding where they came from, and finally laying them down.
Freedom from Spiritual Abuse
Spiritual abuse has a way of reaching into the most foundational parts of who you are including your sense of identity, your worthiness of love, and your ability to trust your own perception. Many clients who've experienced it describe feeling disconnected from themselves and from any sense of the sacred. This work is about untangling what was done to you from who you actually are and discovering that your sense of purpose, connection, and identity belongs to you, not to the system that harmed you.
Counseling shouldn’t be confusing. Here’s how we’ll work together.
STEP 1
We'll start with an initial appointment to explore what you're hoping for and whether my approach feels right for you. From there, we'll gently begin identifying the experiences that are still causing you pain.
STEP 2
We'll work at a pace that feels manageable, building your ability to sit with difficult feelings before diving deeper into your experiences. Throughout, I want you to feel genuinely safe and supported.
STEP 3
As you begin to make sense of your story, feel more at home with all parts of yourself, and find relief from past burdens, we'll work together to carry those changes into your relationships and everyday life.
