Online Trauma Therapy IFS | EMDR Story Work Alabama and Florida
Compassionate support & attuned presence to help you find freedom from the impact of trauma.
As you are navigating your past trauma, you deserve to connect with someone who truly understands and can help. The opposite of trauma is connection.
Everyone has a story. Everyone has known experiences of heartache, powerlessness, betrayal, and shame at some point in their lives. For years, I've been dedicated to working with the parts of myself that I once despised, and drawing nearer to the younger version of myself within my own story, who deserved kindness and care.
I believe I can help you tend to those places in your own story and care for the parts of you that have fought hard to survive or have been hidden away in shame.
You don’t have to do this work alone. I’m here to help.
I’m Steven, and I specialize in IFS, EMDR, and Story Work to help adults who are struggling with past trauma to achieve healing and freedom.
I believe belovedness and belonging are the birthright of everyone. These places of dignity are often impacted through experiences of trauma. The effects of trauma can leave you feeling isolated, disconnected, and unknown by others and yourself.
In the wake of trauma, there is a way forward to reclaim your birthright and cultivate a life you were meant for.
Healing from Sexual Abuse
Statistics show 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. These numbers are staggering and those are only the reported incidents of abuse. Past sexual abuse can have a lasting impact on a life and create really difficult patterns of relating to others and yourself. In my work, I help clients re-engage these experiences safely to overcome and recover from the lasting effects of sexual harm.
Overcoming the Impact of Painful Childhood Experiences
Have you ever wondered what impact your family of origin or relational dynamics growing up have had on your sense of self and how you navigate the world? I am passionate about engaging the stories of others to help uncover where there is confusion, pain, or a tendency to dismiss, so dignity can be reclaimed in the places where it has been stolen.
Freedom from Spiritual Abuse
Spiritual abuse can be so subtle and yet so pervasive in a person’s experience of identity and connection to something larger than themselves. I am committed to the work of exposing spiritually abusive systems and helping my clients to release toxic beliefs and harmful spiritual experiences so their sense of identity, purpose, and connection can be restored.
Counseling shouldn’t be confusing. Here’s how we’ll work together.
STEP 1
We’ll schedule an initial appointment to explore your history and identify your goals for therapy, ensuring my approach is a good fit for you.
STEP 2
We’ll begin working to build up your resources and strengthen internal and external supports to prepare you for optimal success as we engage your story and the parts of you burdened with difficult experiences and beliefs. This is to ensure containment and safety in your healing process.
STEP 3
As you begin to make sense of your story, feel more welcome to all parts of yourself, and find relief from past burdens, we will work together to help you integrate your internal work into your external world.
